DR Andrew j. HAYDUKE
Laser skin resurfacing uses a laser (light source) to physically remove the outer sun damaged layers of the skin and expose the underlying fresher layers. The goal is to freshen the appearance of your skin. After extensive research of modern laser technologies currently available, Dr. Hayduke concluded that the ERBIUM laser is the overall best choice.
Our client’s time is considered very precious, and it is rare for a patient to have an extended amount of time to be totally hidden away from the public. With older aggressive lasers, clients had no choice but to be totally hidden away for extended periods of time. These older laser tended to burn very deeply and had a higher rate of serious permanent complications. These older lasers were the most effective at removing deeper skin wrinkles because of their extreme depth of penetration, but – the risks involved were also significantly higher (higher risk of scarring, permanent skin color changes, unnatural shiny “plastic” skin appearance, etc). With older laser technologies, it was not uncommon for patients to have bright red skin for several months after the treatment. Overall, plastic surgeons agreed that a better balance of effectiveness versus risk needed to be discovered.
With the advent of a gentler ERBIUM laser facial peel, Dr. Hayduke feels this balance was finally achieved. With the use of the ERBIUM laser, the dulling effects of sun damage and age on the skin improve. This ultra fast treatment is done in the office without the need for anesthesia. Clients report a reduction in their pore size, diminished skin discoloration, improve skin texture and a smoothed out appearance of their finer facial lines.
During this in-office procedure, patients feel a mild skin sensation as the ERBIUM laser peels away (removes) the outer surface layers of their skin. Patients can generally apply makeup the very next day. Once healing is complete, their skin looks refreshed, glowing and radiant without all the difficult recovery and higher risks associated with old fashioned skin lasers.
Patients can opt for a single treatment or a series of laser peel treatments, depending upon how severe their skin conditions are. After treatment, the skin will look and feel like a mild sunburn and can be covered with makeup the very next day. Within three days, the skin will begin a light peel and within 5-10 days (depending on the intensity of the laser peel) all signs of healing will have essentially vanished leaving the skin looking and feeling smoother, tighter and refreshed. Finally, a sensible alternative to the risky deep old fashioned lasers has arrived. We are fortunate that now we have entered the era of a gentler in-office ERBIUM laser facial peel.
